University communications is responsible for sending out all university news releases and working with faculty, staff and administrators to respond to media requests. The office also plays a significant role in facilitating employee communications. We oversee operations of the online master calendar and edit the Faculty/Staff E-bulletin and the employee newsletter, the Missouri State Insider. We also lead the Public Relations Advisory Team and serve on a number of committees, including Homecoming and the Public Affairs Conference Task Force.

News Submission Guidelines
University communications distributes weekly, monthly and annual event calendars to media. Media calendars are the primary method of distributing information about events. We also prepare and distribute news releases on certain high-profile events, faculty and staff accomplishments, and other important university issues. Our submission guidelines explain how different topics are publicized to media.

Public Relations Advisory Team
The Public Relations Advisory Team (PRAT) is made up of representatives from the offices of university communications, publications, web services, photo services and development. The team brings together the expertise of several university offices and departments involved in shaping how the university is viewed. University units may request a free consultation with the team. The team will review the public relations goals of the unit and make recommendations about how to meet those goals.

Expert Sources Guide
The Expert Sources Guide is an online resource to help media identify faculty and staff members with expertise in specific areas. An online application allows faculty and staff to add their names to the guide.
