News releases about accomplishments are intended to promote accomplishments that have NOT been otherwise publicized. If information about an accomplishment is sent to media and covered by media BEFORE a news release is issued, that will decrease the likelihood of being included in a university news release.

Faculty/staff accomplishments are recognized in the Insider (the employee newsletter). Certain accomplishments are also recognized through news releases or faculty/staff updates.

Information about faculty/staff accomplishments should be sent to universitycommunications@missouristate.edu. 

Individual news releases will be issued for the following types of accomplishments:

• Having a book published
• National, multi-state or statewide recognition or award
• Appointment to a national board or committee
• Some large, highly-competitive national grants 

The following types of accomplishments will be included in faculty/staff updates, which combine several accomplishments in one news release:

• New grant awards of greater than $5,000
• Local recognition or award
• Appointment to a statewide board or committee
