SPRINGFIELD — Construction management students from Missouri State University took top honors at the 14th annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Student Construction Management Competition Oct. 26-28 in Nebraska City, Neb. Missouri State competed against 30 teams from 16 schools in the ASC Region IV, which includes Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.

The Missouri State team defended its title, taking first place in the Residential Division. Brooks Innes, Matt Sauer, Mark Daves, Dan Cogswell, Kyle Quigley and Dan Botts competed in this division.

The Missouri State Commercial Team placed third in its division. The team included Stephen Monsanto, Michael Chiles, Jeff Sly, Cody Elliott, Dustin Hicks and Colin Rogers.

“It is significant to note that Missouri State was ranked as one of the top five universities in the region,” said Dr. John Reposa, associate professor of industrial management and coach for the teams. “Universities such as Central Missouri, Kansas State and Pittsburgh State had teams in multiple divisions and did not place in any of the divisions they competed in.” Reposa also noted that the Residential team will compete at the National Residential Construction Competition in Orlando.

Missouri State has the largest construction management program in the state. This is the fourth year Missouri State has participated in the competition.
