SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State University has been selected for inclusion in The Princeton Review’s 2008 edition of “America’s Best Value Colleges.” Missouri State is one of 165 schools nationwide to be selected for inclusion. Missouri State was also included in the 2007 edition.
Selection is based on a wide range of criteria, including tuition and financial aid figures reported by the colleges, as well as the opinions of each college’s undergraduates regarding their academic experiences and how satisfied they are with their financial aid packages.
“Our faculty, our campus, Springfield, and our collective commitment to continuous improvement are being noticed,” said Missouri State President Michael T. Nietzel. “That’s why we have set records in enrollment, fund-raising and sponsored programs. This is another terrific validation of the good work that is going on at Missouri State.”
Each college profiled in the book receives a narrative profile covering general information about the school, unique financial aid awards it offers or policies it pursues, its admissions process, what its graduates often go on to do, and how much students and their families should expect to pay each year afterfinancial aid is applied to their bill.
“This is an endorsement of what we have said all along – that Missouri State University is an excellent educational value,” said Don Simpson, assistant vice president for enrollment management and services. “It is especially noteworthy that our selection is based in part on opinions expressed by our students.”
The Missouri State System, consisting of Missouri State University-Springfield, a selective admissions, graduate level teaching and research institution; Missouri State University-West Plains, an open admissions campus serving seven counties in south central Missouri; and Missouri State University-Mountain Grove, set a new record with 20,962 students officially enrolled last fall.
The university also set new highs by exceeding $18 million in grants and awards and topping the $50 million milestone in its endowment.
