SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State University’s electronic arts and media, journalism and film students recently brought home seven awards from the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts and 15 awards from the Missouri Broadcast Education Association competition.

“The many awards that Missouri State’s electronic arts and media, journalism and film students have won this year speak highly of their creativity and production skills,” said Mark Biggs, electronic arts coordinator at Missouri State. “The awards also speak highly of our production programs and the faculty who teach in these areas. They offer living proof that great students, great facilities and great faculty can create the kind of synergy that produces great stories and award-winning productions year after year.”

Two Missouri State presentations received first-place honors, three presentations received second-place honors and one entry received third place at the Broadcast Education Association Festival. First place winners at the Broadcast Education Association Festival include Doug Johnston of Kansas City, Lydia Mann of Springfield, Daniel Kirkpatrick of Parkville and Stephen Leggitt  of De Soto.

In addition to the BEA and MBEA, four Missouri State works were screened at the Show-Me Missouri International Film Festival. Ed Moore of Blue Springs and Cally Rhine of Springfield received first place for their film “People in Motion.”
