SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State University recognized the significant accomplishments of faculty in the areas of teaching, research and service during its annual faculty luncheon today (Aug. 16). In addition, two faculty members received the Excellence in Community Service Award in acknowledgment of their commitment to volunteer work in the community.
Dr. Michael T. Nietzel, Missouri State president; and Dr. Belinda McCarthy, provost, presided over the event in the Robert W. Plaster Student Union Ballroom.
The Missouri State Foundation Awards in Teaching were presented to Kishor Shah, mathematics; and Daniel Beckman, biology.
The Missouri State Foundation Awards in Research were presented to Paul Durham,biology; and Mike Reed,physics, astronomy and materials science.
The Missouri State Foundation Awards in Service were presented Mark Richter,chemistry;and Mark Biggs, media, journalism and film.
Receiving the Excellence in Community Service Award were Richard Johnson,computer information systems;and Bradley Fisher, psychology.
In addition to the award winners, 31 retiring faculty members were recognized for their service to Missouri State.
