Missouri State-Mountain Grove is a 190-acre campus located in Mountain Grove on the Ozarks Plateau in rural south-central Missouri. The agriculture department operates the Missouri State Fruit Experiment Station, which includes the Center for Grapevine Biotechnology and the Mountain Grove Cellars.
The Center for Grapevine Biotechnology conducts research to identify key grapevine genes, including defense and stress-related genes, and those responsible for production of health-promoting compounds, which may ultimately enable the production of improved grape cultivars. The center also seeks to develop biotechnological tools for in-depth functional analysis of grapevine genes and for characterization and prevention of major grapevine diseases, as well as to explore and identify health-promoting compounds in native grapevine species.
