SPRINGFIELD – Construction management students from Missouri State University’s department of industrial management recently won the annual American Concrete Institute (ACI) international concrete construction competition

The students, seniors Doug Stelle, Daniel Botts, Keo San, and Zach Blanton and junior Jeff Creamer, advised by Missouri State associate professor of industrial management Dr. Steven McCrary, developed a solution to a concrete construction problem typical for construction managers.

Schools with construction management, construction technology, civil engineering and architectural engineering programs participated in the international competition. A total of 38 teams submitted responses to ACI’s call for proposals; 29 teams submitted a solution to the problem. The entries were judged by concrete contractors and material suppliers from across North America.

“The team has placed second on two other occasions over the last four years,” said McCrary. “Missouri State has become a perennial powerhouse in this competition.”

The construction management program is housed within the College of Business Administration and is the largest program in the state with nearly 275 majors.
