SPRINGFIELD – Dr. Richard Gebken, assistant professor of construction management at Missouri State University, received national recognition as the 2008 recipient of the Outstanding Junior Faculty Award from the National Association of Home Builders. This award recognizes up and coming faculty in construction management programs around the country.

The award was presented at the 2008 International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla. Faculty are nominated by industry professionals, other faculty or students and are selected based upon a number of criteria related to student support, research and academics. Gebken was nominated by undergraduate students Lisa Heiman and Megan Loomis.

“The nomination (by students) indicates just how much students in the construction management program think of Richard,” said Dr. Shawn Strong, head of the department of industrial management. “We are very fortunate to have faculty of his caliber serving Missouri State University,”

Gebken is in his second year as a faculty member in the College of Business Administration’s department of industrial management after earning his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Texas, Austin.

“I am delighted that Dr. Gebken has been honored as the outstanding young faculty member in the nation by the National Association of Homebuilders. This is indicative of the type of faculty being recruited to the College of Business Administration for the benefit of our students,” said Dr. Ron Bottin, dean of the College of Business Administration.
