SIFE teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that focuses on market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills and business ethics.
“It is an honor and a pleasure working with these outstanding students who are truly impacting the lives of others on our campus and in our community,” said Juan Meraz, Missouri State instructor of computer information systems and SIFE faculty adviser.
The Missouri State SIFE team competed against teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The team will go on to compete in the SIFE national competition on May 13-15 in Chicago.
During this academic year, the Missouri State SIFE team organized 19 projects in the Springfield community, including SIFE City: A Success Skills program, which taught Willard Intermediate School students how to apply for jobs, balance a check book, deposit pay checks and campaign and vote for elected officials.
