SPRINGFIELD – A team of Missouri State University criminology students placed third in the crime scene investigation competition at the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences annual conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 11-15. 

Missouri State’s team included Brittany Davenport, a junior criminology major from Liberty, Mo.; Oliver Hoedel, a junior criminology and sociology major from St. Louis; and Sarah Handlang, a senior chemistry and criminology major from Bonne Terre, Mo. 

The students also participated in other conference activities such as police ride-alongs, jail tours, panels, meetings and competitions.  

Dr. Aida Hass, assistant professor of sociology, anthropology and criminology; and Ivy Yarckow-Brown, instructor of sociology, anthropology and criminology, also presented papers at the conference.
