SPRINGFIELD, MO – The public will get their first peek inside Missouri State University’s JQH Arena during an April 26 open house.

“This is a chance for season ticket holders and fans to get a glimpse of vantage points around the arena and view construction,” said Brent Dunn, vice president for university advancement. “The tour will offer fans the opportunity to view seating options in the new arena.”

Tours will begin every 15 minutes from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Open-toe shoes are not allowed on the tours and hard hats, which will be provided, are required. Tours will offer limited viewing of the arena.

Anyone interested in the tours should sign up for a time at the tent which will be located south of Hammons Student Center, beginning at 8:30 a.m. April 26. Each tour is limited to 40 people and tours will be filled first come, first served.

The new $67 million JQH Arena, named for John Q. Hammons in recognition of his $30 million gift, is under construction and will be completed in time for the 2008-09 basketball season. The facility will have more than 11,000 seats, a grand entrance, 24 private suites, more than 100 loge seats, 55 courtside seats, a Hall of Fame, a team souvenir store and a ticket office.
