Jeff Morrissey has been named the new chief information officer (CIO) of Missouri State University. He has occupied various positions in the computer services department for the past 24 years, and he will begin his new duties immediately.

Most recently, Morrissey served as director of computer services at Missouri State, a position he held for 14 years. Morrissey lead the effort to develop the Unified Digital Campus Development Plan, and he is often consulted by other universities who are investigating the feasibility of a large scale information technology implementation on their campus.

As CIO, Morrissey is responsible for planning, management, security and coordination of computing resources at Missouri State. In addition to new responsibilities, he will continue to direct the computer services department.

"Jeff has been performing many of the day-to-day functions of the CIO for the last three years and has actively represented the university in many settings where CIOs from other institutions were present," said Ken McClure, vice president of administration and information services. "Jeff's credentials made him a natural fit for this position."
